Fresh pineapple, or ananas, is an excellent source of antioxidants and Vitamin C. The fruits stop ripening as soon as they are picked from the trees so choose one with a fragrant sweet smell at the stem end. Fresh pineapple offers a great addition to fruit salads and in yoghurts.
